My body forced me to slow down when I refused to.
In 2025, my health took a back seat. Not because I didn’t care, but because life demanded everything else first.
A big move. A house sale. Helping my children resettle. School challenges. Holding it all together while trying not to fall apart.
So I did what many loving, high-achieving parents do: I put my health last.
When Your Body Says “Enough”
Then my body started speaking louder than any words ever could.
A broken leg. Endless endodontic treatments. Two lost molars. Persistent jaw and teeth pain that wouldn’t ease up.
With no energy to exercise and too much pain to even walk, my blood pressure crept up again. I watched my weight climb with it.
I had clarity. I knew exactly what I needed to do. But the action didn’t follow. Not yet.
The Power of Choosing One Word for the Year
In 2025, my word was Move. And I truly lived it.
I sold my house near the lakes and moved back into the city, a goal that had taken five years to manifest. I wanted to feel more alive, more connected to the world around me. And it worked.
Choosing a single word for the year gave me direction when everything else felt scattered.
Psychologists call this a self-cue: one intentional word that becomes your inner compass, quietly guiding your decisions, your boundaries, and your priorities throughout the year.
As I step into 2026, I am choosing a new word to guide me: Healing.
Healing Starts with the Body
For me, healing begins with the physical.
I recently heard a reminder that stuck with me: find your two or three golden hours and protect them at all costs. This connects to what I shared about Dr. Stutz’s Life Force Pyramid, where physical health is the foundation for everything else: your relationships, your emotional balance, and your sense of purpose
I am a morning person. My energy fades as the day goes on. So my first golden hour now goes to movement and exercise, breathing and meditation. Only then do I start my workday.
But Healing Goes Deeper Than the Physical
Emotional healing. Living abroad while war continues in my home country. Being separated from my parents. Parenting mostly alone. These are wounds that don’t show on the outside, but they weigh heavy.
Spiritual healing. Learning to trust life again. Letting go of fear. Feeling safe in the new place I am building from scratch.
Relationships and life healing. Releasing what, and who, no longer serves me. Making space for what does.
Why I Am Sharing This
Because we all face hard seasons. The difference is not in avoiding them. It is in refocusing, gaining clarity, and choosing to act again when you are ready.
If you want a better 2026, try choosing one word for your year. Let it guide you. Let it ground you. Let it protect what truly matters.
For me, that word is Healing.
